Central message: Importance & Need of Thanksgiving and Prayer

Message Outline:

  • Thanking God

  • Be in Prayer

  • Be Ready for Christ abounding more and more in Love

Message Summary:

1. Thanking God: Purpose and source:

Paul thanking God in remembering all the saints in Church of Philippi, he bore them in his mind, though he is in distress, and far away from them, yet they were not out of his mind. Being a believer of Christ we must thank God all the time in our lives and have that nature in our lives loving one another, which has shown by Paul.

Why do we thank God

· His Love (Psalm 106:1, 1 Chronicles 16:34)

· His Provisions (Philippians 4:6, Ephesians 5:19-20)

· His Forgiveness (Psalms 103:2-3)

· His Creation (Psalms 136:3-9, 1 Thessalonians 1:2)

· His Plan for Us (1 Corinthians 15:57, Hebrews 12:28-29)

2. Prayer & Abound more in Love (Vs 9 -11)

Prayer: Jesus as an example of Praying Man

Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1, if we notice something here, disciples never ask Jesus teach us to preach, they never asked Jesus to teach us to heal, they never asked Jesus to teach us to cast out demons, but they asked teach us to Pray

Grow more in Love

Paul praying for church in Philippi for their love to prosper more and more not with the affections or feelings but with the divine love motivated by the knowledge and wisdom from above. What is Love in Christian believer’s life (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)

This Love will prepare for the day of Christ

What Paul is saying through 9,10 and 11 verses… Paul prays for Philippians cultivate a Christian Love characterized by spiritual knowledge, wisdom and insight, and by doing this they will glorify God, and they will be ready for day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness for His glory and Praise.

What is our immediate goal with these three verses? Cultivate the Christ like love so that all people will know we are His disciples and be ready for the day of Christ with purity and righteousness

What is the ultimate goal ? be ready for Christ for His glory and Praise.
